Can you add a hard or soft plate to it if more protection is desired?

There is not a specific pocket in the Guard Dog Security ProShield Pro Bulletproof Backpack designed for an armored plate. You could theoretically place one inside the back, but there isn't s specific spot for it.

The Guard Dog Security ProShield Pro Bulletproof Backpack is discontinued by the manufacturer. I'd recommend the Leatherback Gear Civilian One Highly Functional Bulletproof Backpack, which has places to hold water bottles, and can be found by using the link below:
