The Leupold BX-2 Alpine HD 12x52mm Binoculars have a magnification level of 12x and an objective lens size of 52mm. A 10x42 binocular would have 10x magnification and a smaller 42mm objective lens.

Yes 12x is more than 10x, the first number is magnification and the second number is the size of the objective lens, the lens furthest from your eye.
