Hello,
From my understanding and knowledge there is no adaptor that will go from #8/32 to #5/40. The rod would be too large to go down the barrel and therefor using a smaller component would not work. for the #5/40 thread component. Would you please clarify what application you want to use such an adaptor on?

Hello, I am not aware of any company that makes such an adaptor. As the #8-32 thread adaptor is on a .22 cal. rod diameter of .203 and the #5-40 threads are typically found on a .177/.17 Cal./.20 Cal. Smaller Rod diameter.
